Meet Joe McKenna
Joe McKenna grew up in Orlando, attended Bishop Moore High School, and earned a scholarship to Clemson University, where he graduated with a degree in financial management. As a Clemson athlete he was a 3x ACC champion and an NCAA Division I All-American. In 2022, the same year he founded Sun State Solar and Roofing, Joe was inducted into the Clemson University Hall of Fame.
After his athletic career, Joe returned home to Central Florida and turned his attention to a trade he had grown up around: roofing. He earned his Florida State Certified Roofing Contractor license (CCC1334700), which authorizes work statewide, and built Sun State on a simple commitment — be the roofer that homeowners can actually reach on the phone, and the one whose work stands up to Florida's brutal climate.
Today, Joe personally manages every Sun State project from quote through final cleanup. There is no call center. There is no sales rep filter. When you hire Sun State, you talk directly with the owner.
